Interfaith Scholar Weekend, February 19-21, 2010: Dr Yahya Michot
The Interfaith Scholar Weekend was co-founded in 1998 by Temple Beth Israel and College Community Congregational Church. Today it has grown to include more than fifteen participating religious and academic organizations who are committed to improving understanding and creating mutual respect between the numerous faith traditions of our area. This year's featured scholar is Dr Yahya Michot, who will speak on various topics relating to the history of Islam as well as the challenges facing modern Muslims today. A long-time participant in inter-religious dialogue, Dr Michot has lectured extensively, is a published author and is currently co-editor of the journal The Muslim World. He was a lecturer on the Faculty of Theology at Oxford University from 1998 to 2008, and is currently a professor in Hartford Seminary's Islamic studies program.
