Caring Committee and Fourth Tuesday
Caring Committee and Fourth Tuesday
The Caring Committee provides an opportunity for seniors over the age of 55 in our Jewish community to meet one afternoon a month - FOURTH TUESDAY - for the purpose of socializing and participating in interesting activities and programs. Our events vary from restaurant luncheon, ice cream social, book review as well as speakers on timely topics with group discussion. We have an annual Latka party luncheon during Hanukkah, Passover Seder, lunch in the Sukkah, and the Vi Cherin Luncheon.
At Rosh Hashanah we assemble gift packages with home baked honey cake, fruit, etc, which we deliver to seniors who are ill, home bound, or unable to get out very often.
Condolence and get well cards are sent out to the Jewish community as needed.
For those who no longer drive, we provide transportation to our programs.

The month of Elul, leading up to the High Holy Days, is a time for spiritual awakening, and the shofar plays a central role in this process. The daily sounding of the shofar during Elul, except on Shabbat, serves as a wake-up call, prompting introspection and repentance. Maimonides, for example, interpreted the shofar's call as a message to "wake up, you sleepers," encouraging individuals to examine their actions and turn towards God. -
